- In a food processor, blend 3/4 cup of black beans with 1 cup of chicken broth. Set aside.
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add chopped ghost pepper sausage and cook for 5 minutes until browned.
- Stir in garlic, salt, smoked paprika, and cumin. Cook for 1 minute until garlic is fragrant.
- Add drained tomatoes, black beans, blended bean mixture, remaining chicken broth, and bay leaf.
- Bring to a low boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes until thickened.
- Remove bay leaf before serving.
